Pautang para sa walang trabaho? Mahirap talaga pag walang regular na trabaho.

Looking for a new job these days is quite tough and requires money. Whether you want to find a new regular job or a work-from-home-job, there will always be a reason why limited cash can get in the way.

Most of the time, you will need to get an NBI clearance before applying to a company. You’ll also need cash for your transportation when going to interviews. If you decide to work as a freelancer at home, you will also need a stable internet connection and a laptop.

On the other hand, if you are a housewife of a seaman and your kids get sick, it will not be easy to find additional cash when your allotment is still two weeks away.

Thus, Filipinos definitely need a loan for the unemployed.

But the question is:

Are there any loans for unemployed?

Philippine Statistics Authority estimates the unemployment rate at 10 percent as of July 2020.

Technically, the unemployed are all persons who are 15 years old without work but currently looking for a job or available to work but chooses not to look for a job yet for various reasons. Unemployed Filipinos may include:

  • College students who want to work as part-time employees to earn money for allowance. Many of the working students are from the provinces striving to make ends meet while aiming to graduate to assure a better future.
  • Filipinos who recently resigned from the previous work and awaiting a call from an employer abroad to be an OFW.
  • Housewives decided to stay at home to look after their children and care for them. They may have previous careers, but they are putting it aside to focus on their families.
  • Fresh graduates hunt for their first jobs to kick start their careers, but they need to accomplish various requirements. Many of them aspire to be professional practitioners, but licensure reviews and exams do not come cheap.
  • Workers who got laid off or whose contracts have ended must still feed their families while looking for a new job.

Though they are from different walks of life, they all do not have their own income source. This makes getting a loan more difficult during financial difficulties.

Banks and traditional lenders will decline loan applications if you are not employed with permanent status.

Understandably, lenders give loans mostly to people who have a monthly salary, which they can use to pay the debt on time.

Luckily, times have changed. There are now online lenders who approve loans for housewives, students, fresh graduates, and even senior citizens.

Even those who do not have a permanent job can now get a personal loan to pay for tuition fees, hospital bills, home repairs, maintenance medications, utility bills, job requirements, or housing rent.

Where can you find a loan for unemployed in the Philippines?

Saan nga ba pwede mangutang?

Understandably, lenders will require their borrowers to have a regular monthly salary. This ensured that the loan would be paid on time. But this does not mean that the unemployed can’t be eligible for a loan.

Loans for unemployed with no bank account in the Philippines

According to the latest survey conducted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), only 29 percent of the population have bank accounts.

This means 51.2 million Filipino adults do not have a bank account, and most of them admit that they do not have enough money to open one. If you have no bank account yet and you are unemployed, you can still borrow cash differently.

Family and Friends

Borrowing from family and friends are not new in our culture.  In fact, when we need instant loans, we go to our neighbors and relatives to borrow cash from them. This is not surprising, considering that our culture has always been family-centered.

Notable Facts

  • This type of loan is usually not charged with any interest.
  • The cash is often readily available should your request is approved.
  • If you don’t pay your loan on time, it will risk your personal relationship with your lender. Additionally, the lender may urge you to tell other people about your unpaid loans. After all, this type of loan rarely has a signed contract that ensures confidentiality.
  • The loan may be as short as a week since you are getting a loan from a person who will eventually need the money soon.
  • The loan amount is highly limited to how much your friend or relative currently has.

Pawnshop

Pawnshops have been around for decades. A lot of pawnshops also eventually became a remittance center. You can find them in almost every street in major cities.

Notable Facts

  • You can instantly get cash even without a bank account. Once your valuable item has been appraised, the staff will immediately give you the money.
  • You can find a pawn shop almost anywhere.
  • You can pawn your jewelry, smartphone, laptop, signature bags, and luxury watches.
  • The amount of money you can borrow is highly limited to your item’s appraised value.
  • The appraised value is definitely way lower than your collateral market value.
  • If you failed to pay your loan on time, you would lose your pawned item. All unpaid items will be sold off.
  • Your item’s value will limit the amount you can borrow.

Emergency loans for unemployed

Even the unemployed Filipinos need easy cash loans for emergency needs and necessities. It is quite a relief when you get extra cash when you need it the most.

SSS Unemployment Insurance

Tanggal sa trabaho?

Losing a job of a sudden is a real pain. Nobody wants that, but we should accept that there are things beyond human control. And Coronavirus is one of those.

If you’re a breadwinner of a family, sustaining your daily needs would be your biggest struggle once you don’t have a regular job. Good thing there’s an SSS Unemployment Benefit or Insurance.

SSS unemployment insurance is not a loan. It is a cash benefit given to SSS members who suddenly got laid off or terminated. You would not be eligible if you resigned from work since this is only for those who have been involuntarily separated from work.

It would be best if you have at least 36-months’ worth of contribution, and your last 12 months of contributions should have been remitted within 18 months before your involuntary unemployment. You must be an active SSS member to get this SSS unemployment benefit.

You can receive up to 50% of your average monthly salary but not more than P10,000 a month. You can also get this benefit for two months, which could be enough to find a new job.

Notable Facts

  • There is no need to repay this SSS benefit. If you suddenly got laid off, this unemployment insurance will help you.
  • You can get this benefit for two months at no more than
    P10,000 a month.
  • The amount is minimal if you have a family to feed.
  • You will not be qualified if you resigned from your company.
